POWERLESS
POWERLESS is a punishing puzzle platformer set in complete darkness. You are surrounded by hidden traps, obscure puzzles, and deadly pitfalls. Aided only by a dim torchlight and your wits, you must traverse the darkness.
You will fail, yes. You will fail many times. That is the nature of things.
Delve ever deeper, make progress, fail, restart, go further, succeed.
BIGMODE GAME JAME 2025
POWERLESS was created for the BIGMODE Game Jam 2025. The theme was "Power."
POWERLESS represents power through experience and practice. The map is pitch black and full of hidden traps. Failure is guaranteed. But as the player explores (and fails) the map is gradually lit up. Making subsequent tries easier. Failure is encouraged.
This was my first Game Jam. And the first game I've ever made. I started learning to code two days before this Jam started. I was very nervous going in. But I learned while doing. And I failed many times along the way. This game is an homage to the attitude of embracing failure. Because failure is the greatest teacher.

TEAM
This was a solo project developed in Godot by Oliver Carr over the course of one week.
All assets, including art, code, sound, were made during the period of the Game Jam. With the exception of the piano music, which is credited to BENPM.
